May 13, 1985 the city of Philadelphia drops a bomb on the Move compound, a black liberation organization in the middle of a black neighborhood. The bombs ignited a fire trapping the group's members and families inside. For over 90 minutes, nearly 500 officers shot 10,000 rounds of ammunition inside the burning building. 11 members including 5 children were slain. The fire destroyed 65 homes. A decade later, a federal jury found police had used excessive force. No city officials were ever prosecuted. Most of the houses still sit abandoned today as a result of the bombing.
